Hi guys , while mowing the lawn this arvo, I nearly ran over this little guy! Saw something hopping away as fast as its bandy lil legs could carry it and stopped dead. Caught him and set up a click clack thing till I can find somewhere suitable to release it. Got me beat where it came from, there are no permanent water courses anywhere near, a stormwater run off a block away, thats it. no neighbours with ponds I know about either. bit of a mystery. I think its a common stiped marsh frog, its actually a gorgeous irridescent green but the pic sux (as usual ) Ill feed it up with juicy crickets till I find it a new home.
Nice find, wierd looking frog. I havn't seen 1 like that before.

Well it was a striped marsh froggy. I have released it in a nice damp spot in my garden. Good luck froggy!

We get striped marsh frogs by the thousands in the paddocks round the house, often quite far from any water. They are almost a pest they are so common, under every rock and log just about. Seems they are an extremely hardy species which is quite suited to cleared land unlike other species which are being pushed out. In winter i often find them extremely bloated looking and unable to move(brumating)
