so now that i'm adicted to reptiles im looking for a small lizard from an arid climate that does not burrow and is an insectivore so anyone know anything that meets my high standards and is not too agressive

Where are you from mate? I could Reccommend a few Aussy species, but you may not be able to obtain them, depending on your locale. Bearded dragons are always a hit! What do you keep at the moment? love to see pics

It all depends what you have access to in your area.
Eastern Water Dragons are entertaining lizards however need a reasonable size enclosure once they are full grown. They live along rivers however they don't require heaps of water.
As inny said bearded dragons are the best introductory lizard and it is night imposible to kill them. They come in a variety of colour phases and meet your criteria.
Ackies (varanus aracanthus) sound like a really active monitor from what I have heard. They come from an arid area however they do burrow down into the soil (needs to be aobut 10 inches deep). Fortunately they don't spend all their time there and are great fun to watch.
Hope this helps

again its all a matter of size as i have the smallest room in the house and i dont think i would have enough for a fully grown monitor

Sorry i forgot to mention. Ackies stay quite small with the biggest one staying under 2 ft.
