Here's the little fella. I'd just like to say I'm extremely happy with how he's going. He eats no problem - 2 crickets in 1 night every 3 or 4 days. I decided to keep him on this really coarse white sand/pebble stuff I bought from a fish shop, after some of his siblings seemed to get sand stuck on them and they dried up and died from it. He gets misted whenever there's no condensation in the container, the container is an old circket container similar to your regular chinese food takeaway containers (minus the msg though - LOL), and in a little water bottle lid he has a few pebbles and his drinking water. Anyhow enjoy the pics and feel free to ask any q's.
Cheers,
Dee.

Well, I've talked to Inny, and plan to 'auction' this fella off on this site, instead of cash however, you pay with herpbucks. Don't know if there'd be alot of interest amongst you guys? - Who here would join the auction to win a scorpion?

_Daniel_- 02-03-2006

i would diffently but i will have to ring praks n wildlife on monday, can u wait till then, ive neva seen any creepy crawlys up here, so im in if i can keep em here

foxysnake- 02-03-2006
The little fella won't be going up for auction for at least 3 - 4 weeks, (I'm moving house the next 2 weeks), and I want to make sure he is fully established before I ship him anywhere to. - Pretty sure scorpions don't need a license but check it up and see. I havn't thought about who pays for frieght, but at this stage I'm sure I can pay for the frieght.

_Daniel_- 02-03-2006
i thought auto that who eva wins pays fireght... well if i win its just like buyin 1 from here since i havnt seen them here i would get this 1 cos u r chargin nutin 4 the scorp its self, the frieght cost would b like me buyin 1 from here sumwhere

well if u wanna pay frieght by all means lol
(IF I WIN I THINK ILL PAY)

Nothing said about scorpians at "praks' n wildlife Dan.

http://www.nt.gov.au/nreta/wildlife/permits/what.html

The manner of freight may be tricky though. depending on a scorpians enviromental needs, temp etc during transit, I would think a small postbox with mesh vents would do for posting, afterall the herp shop sends roaches all over like that.

nothing specific in legal clauses i can see.

given you pay $70 here for a scorpian and posting as I said might coast you $5 if that its still virtually a freebie
Its a very kind offer of Foxy.

Well this is the advice I recieved when I asked about packing and sending, the only thing I'm worried about is someone leaving the package out in the sun!

QUOTE
Get plastic specimen containers with screw lids. The size will depend on the size of the scorpion.

Drill a small hole in the lid.

Cut some long grass leaves, cut them into abount 15mm lengths and let them dry out.

Place some in a container and give a very light mist. Put the scorpion in then more leaves. Should be "medium" packed. ie not loose and not tight.

By a post office cardboard box and place a layer of papere shredding on the bottom, betyween the containers and on the top.

Seal the box with packing tape.

Write on the box "Live insects - keep out of the sun" then post.

Thats how I get mine.
