MOSCOW, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Russia's Federal Security Service said Monday 525 abandoned turtles in sports bags were discovered on a train traveling from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The service's press center said border guards discovered two bags of turtles on a Moscow-bound train, RIA Novosti reported Monday.
The turtles have been placed in the care of a veterinary service and an investigation has been opened into the origins of the reptiles.
