This female is from Lamington national park origins(i am told by breeder anyway), for those that are unfamilliar with this dragon there is also a NSW variety. Great dragons, personality plus, with the female being somewhat more attractive than the male which is rare amongst agamids.

Another shot showing a bit of attitude, lol Sorry it is sideways, wonder if you can turn it round Inny? Otherwise just turn your computor screen on it's side.

Jason, you will find they eat much less than beardies but are a little more selective. Breeding your own woodies, crickets or mealies is the go that way it will cost you nothing after the initial purchase. I bought a kilo of mealies a year ago and they are still breeding by the thousands, are less work than crickets or woodies and no i haven't had issues with impaction from mealworms ever, with any species, as long as clean water, enough Uvb and an adequate hot spot is provided.(before anyone asks )

i have previously bred mealworms, but had troubles getting the young ould due to them being so small, i used to have them in bran/wheat (somthing like that) is there anything that would be better to have them on? such as paper or somthing so it is easy to seperate.
Inny- 09-27-2005
Parko, are you powerfeeding the mealies? Are they intergrades? hybrids?

I have my mealies in Bran, but with a layer of paper towel over the top. I place the mealies tub on top of an enclosure to keep them warm, the mealies actually seperate themselves by climbing up into the paper towel which makes them really easy to get at. By having 2 tubs going at once i can leave one undisturbed with lettuce added for the beatles to lay their eggs in. Every now and then i will start using the other tub to keep both tubs going. It takes a few months for them to really get established during which time i tried not to dip in too much, since then they've been as easy as mealie pie. The trick is to keep them fairly warm and dry. With lettuce only added to the breeding tub as the tub can get little mites and organisms breeding in the lettuce. This tub is left out in the laundry on the hot water system, keeps them just warm enough to breed.

Frillies and these dragons would have to be the best looking lizards we have in Australia. The Southern Angle Headed dragons (Thats whats these are right?) are so prehistoric looking.
Parko- 10-10-2005
Yeah Craig these guys are called Angle headed dragons, also southern forest dragons(which i prefer). They really do have a prehistoric look to them if you see them live. They are in the same familly as Boyds forest dragons, sort of like a southern version of their northern counterpart(Boyds). As much as i love Spinipes i cant deny that Boyds would have to take the cake for Dragons in my opinion.

Hey Parko do you breed angleheads? I'm interested in the care of them (-I might ask santa for some!) They look great but I havn't been able to get much info about the size they grow to etc. Any help appreciated! Cheers, Dee.

Aussie snake lover, is it ok if i call you ASN from now on? My meali set up is simply a plastic tub about 2 foot long, like you can buy from Bunnings or supermarkets, with about 10cms deep Bran in the bottom. That is it. I keep 2 going at a time, one of them i put carrot in aswell for the beetles to lay eggs in, and that is all i do. The best way is to buy a large amount to start with so your colony starts strong. Most pet shops that sell birds can get them in for you. Foxy, they grow anywhere from 10 to 15cms snout to vent, and have very long tails so overall length can be well over 30cms. I find them to be happiest if you think green with their set-up, plants that do well in cool moist conditions do best like birds nest ferns or bromeliads. Plenty of branches at a steep angle from bottom to top and i use coco peat as substrate. It is extremely important that they always have a large shallow water dish and that the temps dont get too high. In Qld I doubt you'd need to heat them. They also need Uvb regularly to avoid getting kinks in their tails at the least or likely more serious problems, i put mine out in filtered sun a cpl times a week for a cpl hours. Think rainforest and you'll be fine. My female may be gravid at the moment but the first clutch is already promised to a few ppl otherwise i'd be more than happy to sell you some, if i get more later this summer i'll let you know for sure otherwise i can put you onto a breeder that may have some if you like, just PM me if interested.

Thanks parko, I'l keep that in mind. Do you think they'd do ok in an outdoor aviary with some nice ferns etc in there? That's just how I'd imagine to keep them. If indoors they'd need quite a big cage wouldn't they? Considering the size of their tails and all.
