I bought this lovely "coastal carpet" born Dec 04 from QLD.

Not only is he/she twice the size of all my other coastals of the same age, but "she" is incredibly talkative. She hisses constantly, and is only happy when her head is buried in my armpit. So she is taking some time to adjust.

She has quite a hefty set of fangs on her, and can give bruising bites. However, after not getting the necessary reaction the first couple of times she has decided that head in the armpit is the way to go.

She has a brand new cage, and is adjusting, and slowly I hope she will feel like she's home.

The thing is, her size. I reckon she has a bit of Darwin in her. Alex my other coastal is a very big snake compared to Rowan of the same age, so I expected that Smudge (Mistress Hissy), would be in between the two. Her head is twice the size of Alex, the neck area behind the head is alot thicker, and though her length is similar to Alex, she is alot bulkier..... Getting her sexed next week to see if she is a she... who knows... maybe Alex will like big women.

Anyhow, this is a picture the previous owner took... (yeah I know... still don't have my own working camera!!)

Certaily looks like Darwin Kali, Alot like It infact.
What a cute expressive little face! Darwins do tend to have nice broad heads, You'll have to see mine one day. Keep us posted how she gets on. smile.gif

Note: (for new folk to the hobby) Kali's use of the word 'fangs' is written in a playful manner, she is just referring to a nice set of needle sharp teeth (about 80) that pythons have. These are not hollow or grooved like venonmous snakes since there is no venom, but are plentyful and backward curved to assist gripping wriggling prey.
Incedently, a pythons teeth are surprisingly fragile and often break off in prey! Remembering this litle factoid when it comes to being bitten, (dont pull away) will prevent injury to your snakes mouth, which may cause health problems.
