Some weeks ago, my daughter discovered a beatup bluetongue skink squirming in the roadside, and we brought it home to treat. It has 2 1/2 legs, one front leg missing clean off at the body , half a rear leg and just 3 toes on the other. Its been chewed, probably by a cat, and its lower third of its tail had died due constriction from unshed skin.
"Jake" as we call him is now looking much better and beginning to heal. He has sloughed and is eating regularly. We will apply the relevant authoritys shortly to keep him by getting him officially on my license, since he can never hope to survive in the wild.

Opps! update: After a month or more of observation this bluey recovered, his wounds healed and he proved himself a survivor. We decided to release him in bushland nearby. We found an ideal spot near a small waterway, with a cave/rocks and lots of ground cover and good foodsource.
Last I saw he was waddling off to enjoy the rest of his life in peace!
