herproom/doh.gif Bummer! Her first clutch have gone mouldy and shriveled, must be she held them too long or wasnt fertilised for some reason, im yet to work out.
I dint seperate the male immediately and he menaced her, So I seperated and she seems to be readying a new clutch. We'll see how they go.
Will try to update with pics of the eggs condition later.

are dragons normally hard to breed?

Sorry if that is a dumb question but I have never owned them before and I am getting some central netteds in a couple of weeks with hopes of breeding them.

Cheers
Shane

Sorry for the loss to sad.gif

No Nightowl, there definately not hard to breed, infact if there healthy and happy in good condition, they'll bred readily. In the wild there is a great mortality rate among hatchlings due nature, predation etc, not many young make it from each clutch.
Females can retain sperm and clutch multiple times aswell, even separated from male after first mating she may cluch a few times, she can be holding/developing 3 clutches at the same time in diff stages of developement.
This balances out the high natural mortality rate, and feeds birds too! smile.gif
Whats happening with mine this year i think is several factors.
while she mated (unexpectedly, yes were all learning lol) last year and was separated from the male right off, she produced 5 clutches with about 95% hatch rate, some 50 something eggs.
However this was not a good thing as she was barely still in her first year, but fortunately she was in good condition, it took heaps out of her though, and a while to re-condition her.
The male wasnt cooled because I was stupidly not expectying mating so young, but she still produced, as she would in the wild.
This year they wernt cooled, but mated, I think the eggs were all unfertilised, being fully mature now cooling as he would in the wild, may be more important. Cooling increases sperm count and fertility in the male apparently.
I think she is carrying eggs now and it will be intresting. Well have to see how it goes.

see how these are a little deflated. My girl laid 15 last night, and they were plump and all except for one or them had the yellow circle. But the same as her first clutch, these have deflated slightly as well (the last clutch fried as my incubator was not set up correctly) so why is this happening again as my temp is sitting on 30, and i thought the vermiculite was ok. How damp does that need to be? any help appreciated, I would hate to lose these as well

try adding a little spaghum moss ontop the eggs anf make it moist, sometimes if you mist slightly (the vermiculite , never the eggs) the eggs absorb the moisture and fill out again. When you mix the vermiculite add verylittle water, the 1:1 method never worked well for me, instead, a tiny amount of water at a time, and mix with your hands. its ready when you can squeeze it into a ball in your hand. (no water should come out). A airtight lid on the egg box is essential to retain the moisture. if droplets appear inside the lid, open one end and soak em up witha tissue. a film of moisture is ok but you dont want water dripping on the eggs, thats too moist and can encourage mould.
can you tell us how you have it all set up andmaybe a pic?
Best luck Hayley smile.gif

been really busy! But my clutch seems to be going really well now. Out of the 15 there are only 3 that are iffy now. 2 are smaller and a little off colour and the other is still a little deflated. I just kept adding little amounts of water. It's very hard to know just haow much water is the right amount!Especially when youre not using a humidity thingy, and also if your containers are not really high enough to show the condensation on the sides clearly. Wish me luck!
