OMG I'M SO EXCITED!!! Ok this is our first clutch of eggs - the big girl has laid somewhere between 20 - 30 eggs and with no slugs! Having only seen BHP and jungle eggs I was amazed the the eggs are actually smallish well in comparison to BHP eggs or the longish jungle eggs! Not exactly 100% sure when exactly she laid them so we're letting her incubate them, - I believe yesterday afternoon maybe last night; but definetely before 11:00pm (which is when i go and check and make sure all the lights are working and none are blown). I wish I'd seen her actually lay them (would've got some awesome pics!) but I'm confident now there'l be plenty more times of seeing snakes lay in the future. Anyhow I just had to tell you all, I'l be getting pics later on today or tomorrow which I'l post back into this thread for everyone. Now just another long wait till the babies pop their heads out. I was fortunate last season to watch BHPs poking their large black heads out of eggs (something I'l never forget!) and this year I get to see our own coastals pop out! I can't wait till my girls are big enough to breed with!Ok sorry I'm rambling! (YAY!!!)

I should have taken pics of here this morning - she wasn't so tightly coiled around her eggs and you could actually see some of the eggs. The reason why we didn't get them to the incubator is because we were advised you shouldn't move a snake's eggs at all after 24 hours. - Because we both have been busy we're not sure exactly when she layed. - I thought I'd checked her yesterday morning, but am not sure, but I know for sure I checked her at 11:00pm the night before - no eggs, and last night 11:00. I didn't relaise she had laid - I was excited one of my coastals had shed and just checked the lights without looking in on her. But I remember the paper was askew as you can see in the first pic. i didn't actually think she was due till next week, it's been 2 1/2 weeks after her pre-lay shed.

This morning when its was still rather hot she was very loosely wrapped around them, since about lunch though its gotten rather cool (compared to normal) with a southerly wind, and since than she has wrapped herself around them very tightly! We've put in a low edged container of dampened spagnum moss which helps to keep the humidity up, and we have to very lightly mist her every 3 - 4 days. As the female tends to 'pee' on the eggs and the eggs can get rather smelly towards the end of incubation period. She's a good mum and protective of her eggs, I'm sure she'l do a great job but I guess we just have to wait and see.

wen u say "protective" does that means she snapps ate u wen u do stuff in the cage, or just hiss's?
i was wonderin y the container was in there, at first i thought it was a a egg box 4 her to hopefully lay in but sumtimes they dont, i thought that is the wierdest substrate ive eva seen used 4 an egg box wink.gif

Update on mummy coastal - she is such a cow! Trying to fill her water up or give the sphagnum a spray is a dice with definite tagging! She lunged at least 1/2 metre at me! Lucky I ce was around to put her waterbowel back in for me!! Ha ha, not my python don't really want to be tagged by her!! She got him, 1 toothmark in his hand!
