I have just discovered our beardys are lethargic and dehydrated. Ive been rather busy and hadnt noticed. (shame on me!)
Despite getting fresh water daily, they were refusing to drink, this is what I hadnt noticed.
The reason? A new water bowl!
A week ago I decided to get them a new water bowl, a bigger one, different shape, different color.
Apparently they hated it and refused to drink from it at all, as a result, over the week they became dehydrated and the male was noticbly lethargic today!
Good thing I noticed his lack of activity today, This is a reminder to be checking all your animals condition daily, if only for a few minutes!
Having given myself a good kick in the bum, Ive put their original dish and hopefully they will be drinking again.
Meanwhile Im syringing water into them ever hour or so to rehydrate them.
Im sure they will recover and be back to their normal selves soon.
They drank from, their origial bowl almost immediately.
I hope others may learn from this, Im rather upset at myself for not noticing they were dehydrated sooner, its rather poor husbandry on my part, no excuses to be made.
So dont be complacent, check all your herps daily to ensure their happy and avoid my mistake please.
