Full Version : Baby Beardies Hatching

My first clutch of babies are hatching (eastern)... they are taking while because we had the eggs in an unused enclosure as an incubator, so it had a temp gradient. which worked but not too well. Now we have them in an esky with a better thermostat, so the temps are more stable and even...

Should have 8 this afternoon, 5 are in the enclosure, and one is still in the incubator and two are half hanging out of eggs.

Here are some pics:

First baby that hatched:

It's a bit cranky with me here:

Yes, been a while...

Been a bit busy of late, doing some nesting of my own biggrin.gif My bub is due to hatch on the 23rd Nov.

There are going to be babies everywhere! 24 or so babies in this clutch, and about 25 in the next that are due to hatch in about 3 weeks. We lost a clutch of 27 eggs last week as she laid them in the enclosure sad.gif I put her in dirt, but she didn't dig for ages, so I put her back for another day... big mistake!

She has another clutch baking tough I think.

I don't even have to seperate my male from her, he is really good, he doesn't hassle her to mate all the time, they get along really well so far! I could imagine my other male would try to mate her 24/7 if I let him near her laugh.gif

Hey guys. I am from Canberra.

I don't think I will be selling this lot, I might be swapping for a snake set up. Will see though. I have another clutch that is due to hatch in a few weeks. (hopefully they will hatch closer together, as they are in a better incubator now, so there's no temp gradient anymore)

15 are out of the eggs and there is STILL nine to go, but they are looking very close.

I have my fav so far wub.gif the little yellow GIRL (hopefully!!!!) with her head to the side (she was trying to lick up water, but there was none right there laugh.gif ).

She stands out from the crowd, I can spot her a mile away...

Some are starting to be piggies already... the other day I put a whole bunch of roaches for all of them to share (trying to get thier instincts kicking in) but I think 3 of them ate most (I think they are the three older ones)

As you can see, this one ate just a bit too much!!!! Look at the belly on him! tongue.gif

The yellowish one may color up nicely, looks good already! smile.gif

Might be an idea to paint the rim of an icecream container or such with fluon and feed each one separatly, or the smaller ones together. you be surprised how quickly a tiny beardy can deteriorate without enough tucker.

the fat belly one looks good, thats normal, keep em that way and they will grow well. more poop, but you knoqw they are gettng enough then.
They love roaches dont they, i fed small crix aswell, although smaller ones may not be able to catch them, first week or two tiny woodies are probly best.

Are they drinking from a shallow bowl or are you misting a few times a day? very important to keep em hydratd. smile.gif
